About the Role

We are seeking a highly experienced and skilled Executive Director, Advancement to join our team at Queensland University of Technology. As a key member of our senior management team, you will be responsible for providing strategic leadership to our Advancement Office, embedding sustainable development initiatives across our fundraising, alumni, and community outreach frameworks.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and implement strategic plans to attract substantial philanthropic investment in the University.
  • Provide leadership and support to the Development team, Donor Engagement team, and Advancement Services and Operations.
  • Work closely with members of University Council, the senior executive team, and other stakeholders to maximise engagement and support local and international donor relations.
  • Manage budgets at a senior level within a large and complex environment.
  • Develop and maintain networks of influential contacts in Queensland, nationally, and internationally in the development and community engagement areas.
  • Ensure business processes and structures are aligned to effectively deliver on key objectives and manage risks through effective risk mitigation strategies.
Requirements
  • A combination of education (equivalent to completion of a relevant postgraduate degree) and substantial work experience in an area relevant to the position.
  • Exceptional leadership skills with the ability to build, lead, motivate, and manage a diverse and effective team.
  • Proven ability to manage budgets at a senior level within a large and complex environment.
  • Advanced and sophisticated interpersonal negotiation and communications skills.
  • Demonstrated high-level skills in strategic planning and project management.
  • Demonstrated ability in planning and influencing, together with a thorough knowledge of trends, funding sources nationally and internationally.
Desirable
  • Experience in the tertiary education sector, preferably in a role featuring development and/or community engagement activities.
