Job Description

You will lead the design, implementation and oversight of cybersecurity architecture for defence-grade systems across networks, platforms and on-premise environments. This includes defining and enforcing cybersecurity standards in alignment with NIST, ISO/IEC27001 and the ASD Essential Eight.

You will work closely with engineering and operations teams to ensure the integrity, compliance and resilience of secure systems in accordance with Australian standards and mission critical needs.

This is a key role that requires strong expertise in Linux systems, networking security and cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP). The successful candidate will also have hands-on experience with security automation and monitoring tools, including Ansible, SIEM platforms (e.g., Splunk, SO2), antivirus (AV) solutions, ACAS, Anchore, SonarQube, and related security technologies.

About the Role

You will be responsible for:

  • Designing and implementing cybersecurity architecture for defence-grade systems
  • Defining and enforcing cybersecurity standards
  • Working with engineering and operations teams to ensure system integrity and compliance
  • Implementing and validating technical security controls
  • Developing and deploying security tools to address vulnerabilities and strengthen defenses
  • Conducting comprehensive risk assessments and security audits
Required Skills and Qualifications

The successful candidate will have:

  • Minimum 10 years of cybersecurity experience, preferably in defence, government or critical infrastructure sectors
  • Relevant tertiary qualification or equivalent knowledge gained through experience
  • CISSP certification (or equivalent), plus ASD recognised cybersecurity credentials
  • Strong expertise in Linux systems, networking security and cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP)
  • Hands-on experience with security automation and monitoring tools, including Ansible, SIEM platforms (e.g., Splunk, SO2), antivirus (AV) solutions, ACAS, Anchore, SonarQube, and related security technologies
