About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Registered Psychiatric Nurse to fill a part-time temporary role as a Clinical Nurse Consultant within our Mental Health Program. This exciting opportunity will be based at Dandenong Hospital on Unit 2, working four days a week.

The successful applicant will collaborate with the Nurse Managers and Nurse Educator to:

  • Implement the Mental Health Intensive Care Framework and drive the Safewards program.
  • Contribute to further development and enhancement of our specialist nursing workforce by providing clinical support, mentoring, and coaching.
  • Identify and address contemporary mental health nursing practice issues to best support vulnerable consumers presenting with complex care needs.

About You

We're looking for a candidate with:

  • A current registration as a Registered Nurse and/or Midwife with the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia.
  • A postgraduate qualification in mental health nursing.
  • A minimum of five years' experience working in an acute adult psychiatric setting, following the completion of a postgraduate diploma in mental health nursing.
  • Clinical leadership expertise in acute mental health nursing, with a passion for best practice standards and excellence in patient care.
  • The ability to lead quality initiatives, work independently, and possess digital capabilities.
  • Demonstrated strong interpersonal skills, including the ability to negotiate, consult, and liaise effectively with key stakeholders.
  • Strong conceptual and analytical skills to effectively analyse and address complex problems.
  • The capacity to collaborate effectively and foster teamwork to achieve collective goals.
  • A proven ability to learn new concepts and promptly apply feedback to improve performance and desired outcomes.
