The Net Zero Economy Agency is an Executive Agency within the Department of the Prime Minister and Cabinet, established to promote orderly and positive economic transformation as the world decarbonises. Our mission is to ensure Australia, its regions, and workers realise and share the benefits of the net zero economy.
What We DoWe lead the detailed design and establishment of the Authority, and the intended functions of the legislated Authority include:
- Investment facilitation – catalysing investment in new industries and jobs, particularly in emissions-intensive regions.
- Worker transition – supporting workers impacted by net zero transition, particularly workers in coal-fired power stations and dependent mines, transition to new opportunities.
- Policy coordination and coherence – helping coordinate policy and program design and delivery for an orderly and positive net zero economic transformation, through advice to government and by working on-the-ground in key regions.
- Communications and engagement – building community understanding, confidence, and engagement with net zero economic transformation.
We're seeking highly motivated, adaptable individuals with a wide range of expertise and transferable skills to join our team. If you have a background in investment facilitation, policy, First Nations and community engagement, and workplace relations, we want to hear from you. A strong interest in Australia's transition to net zero and the challenges facing regions and their communities, industry, and government is also desirable.

EligibilityApplicants must be Australian citizens to be employed in the APS unless the Agency Head has agreed otherwise, in writing. Successful applicants will be required to undergo the process to obtain and maintain, or continue to hold, the required security clearance level for the role as indicated. All NZEA (PM&C) staff are required to have a minimum baseline security clearance prior to commencement.
