Principal Security Specialist

We are a state government department seeking a highly skilled Principal Security Specialist to join our team on a 2-year fixed-term contract.
This is an exciting opportunity to work on a high-profile project, driving innovation and continuous improvement in security services. As a key member of our Information Security Services team, you will have the chance to develop your skills and expertise in a dynamic and supportive environment.
Key Responsibilities- Provide technical leadership and drive the development of innovative security solutions.
- Manage and lead security operations, including fee-for-service delivery to clients.
- Drive continuous operational improvement to achieve efficiency and better customer satisfaction.
- Implement or uplift existing security incident and event management (SIEM) solutions.
- Manage and lead security incident management processes.
- Build collaborative working relationships with clients and staff to deliver customer-centric services.
- Undertake other tasks within Information Security Services as required.

- Demonstrate sufficient technical competencies in the below Technical Competencies.
- Well-developed stakeholder engagement, interpersonal skills, and critical thinking skills to consult, negotiate, and influence clients, vendors, internal teams, and staff to achieve outcomes.
- An ability and professional drive to rapidly acquire skills in new security technologies, such as Zero Trust processes and technologies, especially related to Zero Trust Network Access (ZTNA) solutions, new firewall management solutions, and SIEM solutions.
- Passion and commitment to lead and drive continuous improvement in service delivery.
- Adequate organization and management skills to lead a team of technical specialists.
- Sufficient knowledge and experiences in firewalls, DNS, and other security technologies, such as Juniper SRX, Palo Alto, Cisco, Checkpoint, and Splunk.
- Security incident management processes, SIEM solutions (e.g., Splunk, Sentinel), or SOC function.
- Sound knowledge and experiences in network security architecture.
- Adequate experiences in Redhat Linux and/or Microsoft Windows server management.
