About the Role
We're seeking a highly skilled and experienced Principal Security Advisor to join our Cyber Security and Risk domain at Suncorp Group. As a key member of our team, you will provide technical leadership, consulting, and advice to ensure our technology compliance with cyber security principles, policies, and standards are robust and our security domain strategies and roadmaps are aligned to our business objectives.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide expert security consulting and advisory services to technology and business stakeholders
- Contribute to the maintenance of security domain strategies and roadmaps
- Develop and maintain security domain high-level solution architectures supporting the cyber security program of work
- Participate and contribute towards cyber security architectural governance process
- Engage the broader technology community to ensure adherence and alignment of services with security policy, standards, and controls
- Contribute to the maintenance and development of security frameworks, policies, standards, and guidelines
- Facilitate the introduction of new security technologies, change, opportunity, and innovation that securely enable business objectives
- Work with project and delivery managers to architect and implement new security capabilities
- Identify improvements and significant changes required to existing security platforms
Requirements
- 5+ years of security experience in large enterprises, preferably financial services, with advisory, architecture, or consulting roles
- University degree in business, IT, or related discipline, or equivalent experience
- Extensive knowledge of information security concepts such as risk management, controls testing, security architecture, threat management, security governance, and secure development lifecycle
- Experience with data security controls like data loss prevention and security in workplace technologies, including virtualized desktop/application access, endpoint protection, mobile application management, information protection, and cloud-based productivity technologies (e.g., Microsoft Office365, Azure AD)
- Familiarity with industry security frameworks such as NIST, ISO27001, Mitre, OWASP, and Essential 8, and experience with data centre security technologies (e.g., firewalls, proxies, WAF, secure web gateways, CASBs, key management, IPS/IDS), including micro-segmentation technologies and implementations
- Cloud security architecture experience across IaaS, PaaS, and SaaS, along with understanding Australian regulatory and legislative compliance (e.g., APRA, Privacy Act, PCI)
- Strong analytical, written, and interpersonal skills, with the ability to communicate effectively at all levels, build and maintain strong relationships, negotiate outcomes, and influence effectively
