Job Title: Senior Policy And Projects Officer

Job Description:
As a Senior Policy and Projects Officer, you will support evidence-based strategic advocacy that places client experience and outcomes at the centre of our work. You will write policy submissions and briefs, conduct research and analysis, work with clients to share their experiences, act as a representative in stakeholder meetings and build constructive relationships within VLA and externally, to achieve strategic advocacy objectives.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Support evidence-based strategic advocacy that places client experience and outcomes at the centre of our work.
  • Write policy submissions and briefs, conduct research and analysis.
  • Work with clients to share their experiences and inform policy.
  • Act as a representative in stakeholder meetings and build constructive relationships within VLA and externally to achieve strategic advocacy objectives.

Requirements:
  • Experience in strategic advocacy (such as law reform and evidence-based policy) and an understanding of the role of advocacy in effecting systemic change.
  • Strong policy and data analysis skills as well as excellent written and oral communication skills.
  • The ability to build relationships to influence and negotiate with people from diverse walks of life and positions.
  • Demonstrate a commitment to social justice principles and an understanding of issues affecting Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples.
  • The ability to use initiative, think laterally and innovatively in identifying issues, and providing strategies and solutions to resolve them.
