
Culinary Team Leader

About the Role
We are seeking an exceptional leader to head our culinary team and oversee the provision of quality meals for residents in a home-like environment. The ideal candidate will possess excellent time management, organizational skills, and the ability to effectively manage a team.
The successful applicant will work collaboratively with the Lifestyle team to ensure all activities and events are appropriately planned and catered for. They will also be responsible for ensuring that all meals are prepared fresh daily using seasonal produce, and managing safe and correct processes in food purchasing, storage, handling, and preparation.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Run an efficient and high-quality dining and catering service for the residents of the care home.
- Collaborate with the Lifestyle team to ensure all activities and events are appropriately planned and catered for.
- Ensure any specialist resident dietary requirements are met (e.g. diabetes, weight loss or gain).
- Prepare the main dishes for lunch and dinner.
- Oversee the washing, preparation, and cooking of all foods, including vegetables, soups, sauces, gravies, desserts, sandwiches, salads, bread, and rolls.
- Ensure that all meals are prepared fresh daily using seasonal produce.
- Manage safe and correct processes in food purchasing, storage, handling, and preparation.
- Implement infection control principles and practices as per infection control policies.
- Complete paperwork promptly and correctly as per duty list and Quality & Assurance Processes.
- Identify training needs and requirements of Catering Staff - this includes changes to processes or resident requirements, introduction to new equipment safety or environmental regulations.
Required Skills and Qualifications
- A Certificate in Commercial Cookery or equivalent is essential.
- Aged Care / Hotel/Restaurant experience preferred.
- Ideally you would have previous experience in a similar role.
- Effective time management, organisational skills, and budget management.
- Previous experience in leading a team is desirable and managing a budget.
- Understanding of Food Audits.
- Demonstrated experience working within a multidisciplinary team and ability to effectively liaise with stakeholders.
- Strong interpersonal skills and a customer service focus.
