Job Description

The Training Officer (Electrical) will be responsible for developing and delivering technical training programs to ensure that Rolling Stock maintenance staff have the necessary knowledge to maintain the X'Trapolis 2.0 train type.

This permanent full-time position requires travel to multiple locations within Melbourne for module development and delivery.

Main duties include:

  • Developing training course materials from Alstom's maintenance manuals, design documents, and training material provided.
  • Conducting research and liaising with Engineering and Project Teams to acquire the necessary knowledge of X'Trapolis 2.0 train systems.
  • Developing training courses containing theoretical and practical training.
  • Supporting the development of maintenance methods and instructions.
  • Ensuring training compliance with the Enterprise Agreement, National Training Packages, and all applicable legal requirements.
  • Structuring training courses to be effective, efficient, and mitigate impacts on existing fleet maintenance requirements.
  • Delivery of training material to maintenance staff on the new train fleet, aligning with training maps and competency profiles required for a modern train.
  • Providing reports and advice on the training delivery progress and effectiveness to the MTM leadership team.
Required Skills and Qualifications

To be successful in this role, you will need:

  • TAE40116 Certificate IV in Training and Assessment – mandatory.
  • Certificate III in Electrical Trade – mandatory.
  • Proven experience in a Rolling Stock Maintenance Environment or equivalent field – mandatory.
  • Excellent planning and organisational skills.
  • Ability to work effectively as part of a diverse team.
  • Experience in developing training programs.
  • Ability to independently manage multiple resources to achieve required outcomes.
