Job Description

Our organization is seeking an experienced professional to fill a key role in our engineering team. As a Lead Structural Designer, you will be responsible for overseeing the structural design of projects, mentoring junior designers, and ensuring timely completion of drawings and schedules.

The successful candidate will have excellent working knowledge of MicroStation and relevant industry standards. They will also possess strong leadership skills, with experience leading teams of designers on major projects.

Key responsibilities will include:

  • Overseeing and leading the structural design process
  • Mentoring and guiding less experienced designers
  • Developing detailed layouts and designs for plant construction packages
  • Ensuring adherence to project man-hour budgets and Wood Standards and Procedures
  • Assisting with site installation and commissioning
  • Reviewing and processing vendor data and drawings

Required Skills and Qualifications

To succeed in this role, you will need to possess the following skills and qualifications:

  • Minimum 10 years of experience in the mining industry, with a strong background in structural design
  • Excellent working knowledge of MicroStation and relevant industry standards
  • Strong leadership skills, with experience leading teams of designers on major projects
  • Good understanding of mineral resource technology and structural technology
  • Experience with Process Plant design and layout
  • Ability to work unsupervised, with initiative and a methodical approach to allocated work areas
