
Venues Event Support Specialist

The Venues and Catering team within the University manages the Brasserie and Cafe on campus. They provide function and event management, catering services, and liaise with other campuses to ensure consistency in event planning.
As a casual administrator, you will provide daily support for the Senior Venues Officer, including general administration, daily communications, client liaison, procedural compliance, and provision of basic Audio-Visual support for events.
This is a flexible opportunity (approximately 15-20 hours per week), involving a mix of weekday, weekend, and out-of-hours work pending business requirements.
Key Responsibilities- Respond to enquiries about space, facilities, and catering options on campus;
- Liaise with clients via face-to-face interaction, undertake site visits, and on-site inductions with detailed event follow-up;
- Communicate daily event changes to the team and various stakeholders;
- Manage room allocations for external exams and venue hires across campus;
- Develop a thorough understanding of University technical systems and procedures;
- Manage communication updates for Venues and Catering, including social media and advertising, and facilitate on-campus promotions during key student weeks;
- Draw event floor plans in detail with consideration for various aspects of each event;
- Provide administrative support to the Venues and Catering team as required.

You will possess excellent communication and interpersonal skills, including the ability to write clear and concise written communications. You will enjoy showcasing your ability to prioritise and multitask a broad range of activities, and pride yourself on your capacity to work both independently and collaboratively as part of a team.
Required Skills and Qualifications
- Strong attention to detail and capacity to follow procedures consistently;
- Exceptional customer service focus with excellent personal presentation skills;
- Advanced skills in Microsoft Office and a wide range of technological mediums;
- Studies in business or event management is an advantage, or minimum two years experience in an events setting;
- Ability to assist with room set up and heavy lifting as required;
- Possession of a Queensland C Class Manual Driver's licence is essential.
