We are seeking a dedicated professional to join our team as a Peer Support Specialist. This is an exciting opportunity for someone with personal experience in mental health and/or substance use to make a meaningful difference in the lives of others.
In this role, you will work closely with services supporting individuals with co-occurring mental health and substance use disorders. Your lived experience and passion for advocating for others will be invaluable in building capacity across sectors to better meet the needs of dual diagnosis consumers.
Your key responsibilities will include providing education and training, harm reduction support, brief interventions, and relapse prevention strategies. You will also collaborate with stakeholders to improve integrated service delivery and contribute to shared learning and workforce capability development.
This is a unique chance to draw on your personal experiences and skills to drive positive change in the community. If you are passionate about making a difference and have a strong understanding of dual diagnosis challenges from both lived and systemic perspectives, we encourage you to apply.
About us:The Southern Dual Diagnosis Service (SDDS) is a specialist team that works to build capacity in services supporting individuals with co-occurring mental health and substance use disorders.
Working with clinical mental health services, AOD providers, housing agencies, and other community services across the Southern Metropolitan Region, SDDS plays a critical role in supporting systems to deliver collaborative, recovery-oriented care.
About you:We are looking for someone who is grounded in harm reduction principles and has a person-centred approach. You should be skilled in communication, engagement, and collaboration across services and communities.
You will be comfortable working in a multidisciplinary team and adaptable to changing environments. You should be committed to building a stronger, more inclusive lived experience workforce and motivated to share your journey in a way that inspires hope, connection, and positive change.
You bring a positive, compassionate, and non-judgmental attitude and have a strong understanding of dual diagnosis challenges from both lived and systemic perspectives.
