About the Role

We are seeking an experienced Operational Risk and Resilience Manager to join our team at Great Southern Bank (Formerly CUA). As a key member of our second line of defence, you will play a critical role in overseeing and challenging our operational risk management and resilience management activities.

Key Responsibilities
  • Operational Risk Management
    • Provide independent oversight and challenge to our operational risk management activities.
    • Review and assess the effectiveness of our risk management framework, including through the review of controls assessments, issues and incidents.
    • Conduct independent risk assessments, controls testing, and scenario analyses to evaluate potential impacts on the business.
    • Monitor and report on key risk indicators, issues, incidents, metrics, and emerging risks.
    • Ensure that risk treatment strategies and controls are effectively implemented.
  • Resilience Management Oversight
    • Develop and maintain our business continuity and resilience frameworks.
    • Review and challenge the business impact assessments, business continuity and disaster recovery plans developed by the business.
    • Ensure regular resilience testing and simulations are conducted and reviewed.
    • Provide assurance that our critical operations can withstand and recover from disruptions.
    • Collaborate across the Bank to enhance resilience and provide oversight and challenge to our resilience activities.
  • Compliance and Regulatory Adherence
    • Ensure compliance with relevant APRA standards, including CPS230, CPS231, CPS232, CPS234, and CPG235.
    • Work across the Bank to promote a risk-aware culture.
    • Provide training and awareness programs on operational risk and resilience.
    • Act as a point of contact for operational risk-related enquiries and issues, from the second line of defence perspective.
    • Stay updated with industry best practices and emerging risks.
    • Implement continuous improvement initiatives to enhance the effectiveness of the second line of defence.
    • Lead and participate in risk management projects and initiatives.
    Requirements
    • At least six years of experience in Financial Services Operational Risk and resilience management.
    • Strong understanding of regulatory requirements and industry best practices in operational risk and resilience management.
    • In-depth knowledge of operational risk management frameworks and methodologies.
    • Proficiency in business continuity planning and resilience management.
    • Knowledge of relevant Financial Services sector standards, including legislation, regulation, prudential standards, codes, etc.
    • Demonstrated experience working in second line of defence roles.
    • Bachelor's degree in Commerce, Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
    • Professional certifications such as Certified Risk Manager (CRM), Certified Business Continuity Professional (CBCP), or equivalent.
