Job Description

Job Title: Global Payments Operations Specialist

Job Type: Contract or Temporary

Location: Sydney

Industry: Investment Banking

About the Role:

  • Monitor payment processing applications and review payments submitted through various methods.
  • Validate payments and flag issues that arise with payment mechanisms, performing production validation as needed.
  • Process funds transfer or settlement instructions in a timely and accurate manner, adhering to payment cut-off times and Service Level Agreements (SLAs).
  • Investigate differences in cash processing and perform settlements and reconciliations.
  • Manage daily cash movements by bank clients and confirm transaction validity with cash processing and client services managers.
  • Research and resolve client inquiries received from the client services team.
  • Adhere to and complete regulatory and compliance monitoring and reporting as required.
  • Act as an escalation point for data processing issues and provide input on quality improvement processes.
  • Responsible for the quality and completion of own work and support actional tasks assigned by the manager.
  • Assist in collecting US tax documentation for IRS requirements.
  • Participate in business initiatives, including new projects, and contribute to the achievement of team objectives.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree or the equivalent combination of education and experience is required.
  • 3 to 5 years' experience in financial services or payment processing roles is preferred.
  • Good communication, organizational, teamwork, and interpersonal skills are essential.
  • Knowledge of local payments systems (e.g., Austraclear) and the SWIFT payment system is preferred.

About You:

  • Effective time management skills and ability to manage end-to-end processes in high-volume days.
  • Excellent attention to detail and accuracy in processing in a timely manner.
  • Enthusiasm for operations excellence initiatives to improve efficiency.
  • A strong team player and ability to support others.
  • Flexibility with working hours, able to support later hours when required.
