About the Role

The Colorectal Surgery Fellow will participate in a mixed clinical/research role in a busy tertiary colorectal unit. This position offers a unique opportunity to gain experience and knowledge in colorectal surgery, with a focus on inflammatory bowel disease, laparoscopic colorectal surgery, and pelvic floor investigation and treatment.

The successful candidate will work under the supervision of senior consultant staff attached to the Colorectal Unit, participating in the supervision and teaching of junior medical staff and medical students. They will also conduct colorectal research and bring projects to publication and presentation.

This position is ideal for a surgical trainee looking to gain experience in a busy and dynamic environment. The Colorectal Surgery Fellow will have the opportunity to work with a team of experienced clinicians and contribute to the development of the department.

Key Responsibilities
  • Participate in a mixed clinical/research role in a busy tertiary colorectal unit
  • Participate in the supervision and teaching of junior medical staff and medical students
  • Participate in general/colorectal on-call roster at fellow level
  • Conduct Colorectal Research and bring projects to publication and presentation
  • Work under supervision of senior consultant staff attached to the Colorectal Unit
Requirements
  • MBBS
  • AHPRA Registration
  • FRACS in general surgery
  • Current National criminal history check, or willing to obtain
  • Evidence of commitment to excellence in research
  • Evidence of commitment to a career in colorectal surgery
