We are seeking an experienced and skilled Occupational Therapy Department Manager to join our team at Healthscope Hospitals. As a key member of our healthcare team, you will be responsible for leading and managing the Occupational Therapy service to ensure efficient and effective service delivery that is evidence-based and patient-centered.
Key Responsibilities- Lead and manage the Occupational Therapy service to ensure high-quality patient care and efficient service delivery.
- Be accountable for the effective management of human, financial, and material resources.
- Undertake direct patient care, providing high-quality and culturally appropriate occupational therapy assessments and treatments.
- Provide guidance and support to less experienced members of the team.
- Work closely with the Director of Allied Health and referrers to ensure a customer-focused quality service.
- Establish a framework for professional supervision and provide guidance to staff within the team.
- Work as part of the healthcare team, adhering to Healthscope Hospitals' policies and procedures, and participating in quality improvement initiatives.
- Masters/Bachelor Degree in Applied Science Occupational Therapy and eligibility for practicing membership to Occupational Therapy Australia.
- Current registration with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA).
- Minimum of 7 years' clinical Occupational Therapy experience in an acute environment.
- Previous leadership and staff supervision experience.
- Desirable: experience in leading quality improvement activities, postgraduate qualification in management/leadership, or experience in the private hospital sector.
- Highly developed leadership and communication skills.
- Demonstrated commitment to exceptional customer service.
- Highly developed negotiation, problem-solving, analytical, organizational, and conflict resolution skills.
- Self-motivated, with the ability to demonstrate initiative, self-awareness, and reflective practice.
- Ability to achieve results through consultation and facilitation.
- Ability to develop positive relationships with a diverse range of people.
- Demonstrated change management skills and ability to work with ambiguity.
- Advanced skill and competence in one or more key areas of clinical occupational therapy.
- Demonstrated skills and experience leading and managing an Occupational Therapy team.
- Establish and maintain partnerships within the multidisciplinary team.
- Experience in development and implementation of new systems/practices.
- Experience and knowledge of human resource management, budget, and KPIs.
- Knowledge of the private hospital sector.
- Practical use of IT systems and data analysis skills.
- Demonstrated clinical experience supervising staff, students, and team performance.
