About the Role

Better Place Australia, a community-focused Not-for-Profit organisation, is seeking two voluntary, Non-Executive Directors to join its Board. The ideal candidates will have demonstrated experience in at least one of the following areas:

  • The mental health sector, either through lived experience or professional expertise
  • Senior Clinical and management expertise aligned to an area of service offering
  • Professional experience in Family Law Services sector (e.g. family dispute resolution)
  • Policy, advocacy, government relations within related sectors

The Board of Directors provides leadership and strategic guidance for Better Place Australia, overseeing the implementation of the organisation's 5-year Strategic Plan. Board members are expected to attend up to eight meetings per year, either in person or online, and serve on at least one board committee.

Better Place Australia is a Rainbow Tick accredited organisation with a strong commitment to diversity and inclusion. The organisation prides itself on welcoming and including people from all backgrounds, including those with lived experience of disability, mental health, LGBTIQ+, and First Nations people.

Requirements

Applicants should have some Board experience and knowledge of best practice corporate governance and risk management. The ideal candidates will be able to devote sufficient time and commitment to properly perform their role and duties on behalf of Better Place Australia.
