Job Overview

The position of Mine Operations Superintendent is available for an experienced professional who can lead and manage underground mining operations, ensuring a safe work environment and effective resource allocation.

This role requires strong leadership skills, with the ability to mentor and motivate Production Supervisors across shift operations. The successful candidate will be responsible for maintaining a safety-first culture, ensuring compliance with relevant laws and regulations, and driving a culture of continuous improvement.

About the Role
  • Lead and manage underground mining operations, ensuring a safe work environment and effective resource allocation.
  • Mentor and motivate Production Supervisors across shift operations.
  • Develop and implement strategies to improve operational efficiency and reduce costs.
  • Ensure compliance with relevant laws and regulations, including WHS and other acts and regulations.
  • Drive a culture of continuous improvement, encouraging innovation and best practice within the team.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Support the Safety Management System, promoting a safety-first culture within the team.
  • Develop and implement schedules and budgets to meet 13-week targets, ensuring efficient use of resources.
  • Conduct regular inspections and audits to identify areas for improvement.
  • Collaborate with maintenance, technical, and client teams to ensure effective communication and coordination.
  • Build and sustain relationships with internal and external stakeholders, including site personnel, corporate teams, regulators, suppliers, and industry partners.
  • Provide up-to-date reporting and documentation on operational performance.
  • Oversight of contractor performance and activities.

Requirements

We are seeking an experienced professional with:

  • 15+ years of mining experience.
  • 5+ years of Long-hole production experience.
  • 10+ years of underground experience.
  • Hands-on experience in the underground crush firing process (desirable but not essential).
  • Avoca stoping experience (desirable but not essential).
  • S1, S2, S3 Supervisor Competencies (Mining Supervisors Course).
  • Current manual C Class Driver's License.
  • 4WD experience, an accredited qualification in off-road driving, highly desired.
  • Senior First Aid Certificate/CPR Qualification, highly desired.
  • A valid National Police Clearance - less than 6 months old.
