The position of Patient Accounts Officer is responsible for managing patient accounts, including creating and issuing patient estimates, generating invoices, receipting, and debt collection. This role supports clinicians by ensuring patients are informed about the billing system and funding mechanisms of Medicare and private health funds.
The key responsibilities of this role include:
- Managing patient accounts across multiple disciplines, creating and issuing patient estimates, generating invoices, receipting, and debt collection
- Effectively communicating treatment fee structures and addressing patient account inquiries in a friendly and timely manner
- Providing support to clinicians by ensuring patients are fully informed of the billing system and funding mechanisms
- Ensuring debtors are managed effectively and in line with debt management policies and procedures
- Working collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team, exchanging information, and assisting other team members to achieve team objectives and work outcomes
We are interested in candidates who have:
- Medical accounts processing skills, including knowledge of Medicare, DVA, and private health funds
- Demonstrated ability in using clinical administration systems and MS Office, particularly Excel
- A flexible and motivated individual with strong organizational skills
- Demonstrated understanding of and ability to provide excellent customer service in a healthcare environment
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills and ability to build effective relationships with internal and external stakeholders
- Excellent time management and multi-tasking skills
- Proven experience working effectively both independently and collaboratively in a multidisciplinary team environment
