Pest Control Specialist

We are seeking a skilled Pest Controller/Grounds Person to support our Defence Base Services contract in Hobart, Tasmania.
The successful candidate will be responsible for managing and executing pest control services, as well as assisting with environmental land management activities, including weed management, fire management, grounds and garden maintenance, and environmental monitoring programs across multiple sites in northern Tasmania.
Key Responsibilities:
- Conduct thorough inspections to identify pest issues and develop effective treatment plans.
- Apply appropriate treatments and solutions to control and prevent pest infestations.
- Maintain accurate records of services provided and materials used.
- Perform land management activities, including ride-on mowing, tractor slashing, and chainsaw operation.
- Conduct minor planned maintenance activities and inspections.
- Record and notify any discovered Unexploded Ordnance (UXO).
- Provide support to the Range Control function.
- Manage TA accommodation and associated areas.
- Manage first response bushfire fighting capability to designated Training Areas and Ranges, including the provision of designated fire fighting vehicles, equipment, and crews.
About You:
- Previous experience in pest control is preferred.
- Pest and Vermin control qualifications.
- Chemical Application Certificate.
- Experience in Environmental Grounds Maintenance.
- Experience in the use of Grounds Maintenance machinery, such as ride-on mowers, tractors, brush cutters, etc.
- Experience with using a chainsaw.
- Excellent communication skills.
- Sound problem-solving, organizing, and time management skills.
You must be an Australian Citizen and have the ability to maintain a Defence clearance to be eligible for these positions. Additionally, you must be able to pass an Australian Federal Police Check and Medical Pre-Employment Checks as required by the contract.
