
Diagnostic Support Specialist

Lab Assistants play a vital role in supporting diagnostic services critical to patient care.
As part of our multidisciplinary team, you will assist with the preparation, processing and support of clinical microbiology specimens.
Key Responsibilities:
- Prepare and handle microbiology samples according to established protocols.
- Operate and maintain laboratory equipment for optimal performance.
- Perform general laboratory housekeeping and administrative tasks.
- Support culture setup and plate preparation activities.
- Manage stock levels and prepare reagents as required.
- Data entry and sample tracking using the Laboratory Information System (LIS).
Required Skills and Qualifications:
- Prior experience or knowledge of microbiology laboratory techniques advantageous.
- Strong interpersonal, communication and teamwork skills.
- Ability to prioritise tasks, work methodically and efficiently, and meet deadlines.
- Accuracy and attention to detail even under time pressures.
- Proactive and flexible approach to changing work demands.
- Commitment to occupational health and safety standards.
- Excellent customer service skills with a focus on supporting scientific and clinical staff.
