Job Description

Navantia Australia is seeking an experienced Lead Naval Architect to join its team in Sydney. The ideal candidate will be responsible for delivering engineering services for naval ships.

The role involves collaborating with the broader Navantia Engineering Team by engaging and working with different engineering disciplines. The successful candidate will provide high-level naval engineering technical competence based on relevant experience and knowledge.

Key responsibilities include leading and managing the General Design engineering discipline in the successful achievement of assigned projects and tasks, complete systems design for naval ship systems, and supporting the team in undertaking ship General Design area documentation.

Additional responsibilities include delivering technical reports and technical documentation in accordance with established standards, planning and coordinating assigned engineering projects from concept through to delivery, and ensuring that classification societies and national authority requirements are met where appropriate.

  • Deliver comprehensive design and engineering support to all Navantia-designed ships in service with the Royal Australian Navy.
  • Collaborate with various engineering disciplines to ensure effective communication and teamwork.
  • Lead and manage a team of engineers to achieve project goals and objectives.
  • Develop and maintain technical documentation and reports to ensure compliance with established standards.
  • Coordinating and facilitating workshops and meetings with stakeholders and clients.
