The National Breast Cancer Foundation is a leading organisation in Australia dedicated to funding world-class breast cancer research. The foundation aims to achieve its vision of zero deaths from breast cancer.
This newly created role is part of the foundation's growth, working closely with the visionary Executive Director to deliver the ambitious Pink Horizon Research Strategy.
- The Research and Evaluation Professional will design, implement, and refine evaluation/impact frameworks to ensure effective monitoring and measurement of the foundation's investments across its grant portfolio.
- The role will work closely with stakeholders to embed robust evaluation and impact measurement practices/activities across all research schemes and strategic initiatives.
- The professional will build impact and evaluation measurement and reporting frameworks for all the foundation's grant schemes, aligning with the four strategic objectives of the Pink Horizon Research Strategy.
- They will develop and apply indicators/metrics across short-, medium-, and long-term horizons to measure research outputs, outcomes; and maintain the Impact Measurement and Reporting Matrix.
- The professional will generate insights and visualisations from research data to inform internal strategic decision-making and external reporting requirements.
- They will prepare and contribute to high-quality reports, presentations, case studies, and impact narratives for diverse audiences including the Board, Research Advisory Committee, donors, and the community.
- The professional will develop and manage tools, and provide training and support for grant recipients on impact reporting, narrative development, and evidence collection.
- They will be an internal subject matter expert on impact/evaluation methodologies - horizon scanning and reviewing evolving trends, to ensure practice remains world-class and aligned with sector standards.
The ideal candidate will be analytical as well as strategic, with robust experience in impact measurement and evaluation, and communicating those insights to diverse audiences.

Essential Requirements:- Tertiary qualifications in a relevant discipline such as public health, life/social sciences (PhD or Master's degree highly desirable).
- Extensive experience in research evaluation, impact assessment, or performance measurement in a health or medical research context (experience working within grant-funding organisations, particularly in the not-for-profit sector highly regarded).
- Exceptional skills with data analysis (both qualitative and quantitative), and proven experience creating evaluation and impact measurement frameworks, metrics, and reporting tools aligned with strategic objectives.
- High level of computer literacy, including experience with data analysis/visualisation tools, research databases, and Microsoft Office applications.
- Strong project management and organisational skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines.
- Advanced written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to story-tell when presenting research/evaluation findings, and tailor communications to a wide range of audiences and stakeholders.
- Demonstrated stakeholder engagement skills, with the ability to work collaboratively across teams and with external partners.
