Cancer navigation services play a vital role in enhancing timely, equitable, and culturally safe access to information, navigation, and support for those impacted by cancer.

This national initiative is part of the Australian Government's Australian Cancer Nursing and Navigation Program (ACNNP), aiming to integrate, strengthen, and digitalise navigation pathways alongside key stakeholders.

The project seeks to provide more targeted support for people affected by cancer, ensuring they receive the necessary assistance to navigate the complex healthcare system.

About the Role
  • Develop and implement a strategic stakeholder engagement plan aligned with project objectives and governance requirements.
  • Promote Cancer Council Australia's mission and values through representation in national forums, media, conferences, and sector events.
  • Foster strong relationships with government agencies, ACNNP partners, cancer sector organisations, and priority population groups.
  • Provide expert advice to senior management on stakeholder insights, risks, and opportunities.
  • Ensure alignment with the 10-Year Australian Cancer Plan and contribute to long-term sustainability and investment opportunities.
  • Collaborate with the Head of First Nations Strategy and Engagement to uphold cultural safety and First Nations governance principles.
About You

You're an experienced leader committed to integrity, transparency, and inclusive engagement. You're passionate about making a difference and driving positive social impact.

  • Proven experience leading national, strategic stakeholder engagement in cancer control or complex health, with demonstrated impact on policy/program decisions.
  • Demonstrated understanding of the lived experience of cancer and the support needs of people affected by cancer.
  • Excellent communication skills, with ability to represent the organisation confidently and effectively in media environments.
  • Strong interpersonal and negotiation skills, with proven ability to influence at senior levels.
  • Experience representing organisations in national forums and stakeholder interactions.
  • Strategic thinker able to translate complex issues into clear narratives and evidence-based recommendations.
  • Demonstrated leadership experience, including team management, conflict resolution, and cross-sector collaboration.
  • Commitment to the purpose and values of Cancer Council Australia.
