
Chief Minerals Sector Growth Officer

The Department of Natural Resources and Mines, Manufacturing and Regional and Rural Development is seeking a dynamic Project Manager to lead initiatives that grow the critical minerals sector. As a key player in Queensland's future-focused industry, you will work flexibly from Townsville or Brisbane in a high-impact role that values collaboration, leadership, and results.
The Georesources division capitalises on Queensland's minerals, coal, petroleum, and gas resources, with mining being the number one wealth-generating sector in the state. You will contribute to regulating the resources sector while supporting industry development and growth.
As a Project Manager, your responsibilities will include formulating strategies, engaging stakeholders, contributing to Cabinet and policy briefings, representing the department at industry events, and overseeing project reporting and governance. You will drive delivery of strategic initiatives, providing expert policy advice, managing complex projects, and developing fit-for-purpose operational frameworks that enable investment, innovation, and long-term regional jobs.
To succeed in this role, you will require strong communication skills, experience confidently leading and managing multiple projects and policy processes, and analytical thinking with a solutions-based approach to problem-solving. A collaborative mindset and a commitment to public value and continuous improvement are also essential.
The successful candidate will have excellent relationships-building skills, be able to effectively communicate complex ideas, and possess a deep understanding of natural resource management policy and legislation.
