Senior Retail Operations Manager Job Description

Position Overview:

The Senior Retail Operations Manager will oversee the Merchandising Department and other warehouse areas. This individual will develop and implement sales and merchandising plans for the warehouse, ensuring overall readiness on a daily basis.

This is a full-time management/leadership position requiring 43+ hours of work per week.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop, coach, counsel, and direct Merchandising Department employees to achieve exceptional results.
  • Monitor employee performance and provide proactive feedback to promote teamwork and accountability among employees.
  • Participate in the employment process by making recommendations for hiring, promotion, and termination.
  • Conduct regular evaluations of Merchandising Department employees and address any concerns or issues promptly.
  • Respond to employee concerns using problem-solving skills, tact, and discretion.
  • Approve timecards and other reports to ensure accurate tracking of employee hours and productivity.
  • Implement and maintain proper Merchandising Department and general safety procedures and standards to minimize risks.
  • Ensure the warehouse is 'Showtime Ready' on a daily basis by conducting thorough reviews of all areas upon opening and closing.
  • Monitor employee performance to ensure adherence to best merchandising practices.
  • Develop, implement, and uphold safety and security procedures to safeguard employees, customers, and assets.
  • Review department sales, schedules, productivity figures, and zero sales to inform strategic decisions.
  • Evaluate merchandise quantity, status, price, delivery, and promotion with Buyers and other departments to optimize inventory management.
  • Coordinate maintenance and repairs for machinery and equipment to prevent downtime and ensure efficient operations.
  • Collaborate with other warehouse departments as needed to drive operational excellence.
  • Provide prompt and courteous customer service to members, employees, and suppliers to build strong relationships.

Operational Skills:

  • Proficiency in computer software, including Google Suite (Docs, Sheets, Slides) and AS400.
  • Familiarity with basic math skills and ability to analyze data to inform decisions.

Qualifications:

Education: High School Certificate or higher.

Certifications: Floor Walk Inspection training prior to beginning work in the department.

Experience: Minimum 2 years of staff management experience, with a strong focus on customer service and communication skills.
