Lead Data Platform Engineer

We are looking for a highly skilled and experienced Lead Data Platform Engineer to join our team. As a key member of our data supergroup, you will play a critical role in building and leading our warehouse platform & tooling capabilities and roadmap.

  • Define a vision and strategy for the Warehouse Platform Capabilities team that aligns with the organisation's development goals.
  • Evolving Canva's warehouse platform & tooling capabilities and roadmap, incorporating data governance and data management principles and controls.
  • Lead and contribute to the building and delivery of key data initiatives, ensuring alignment with business objectives.
  • Build a diverse and inclusive team to best support the evolution of Canva's data platform, fostering a culture of collaboration and innovation.
  • Uplift analytics engineering practices, particularly in data warehouse capabilities, development practices, and documentation.
  • Work collaboratively across all groups and specialties, supporting their data needs and aligning on priorities and roadmap.
About the Role
  • Coaching and leading teams in the data platform domain, driving high-performing teams towards excellence.
  • Building and leading a large-scale central and distributed data specialty, leveraging expertise in data engineering, data analytics/data science, and cloud platforms.
  • Hands-on experience in general data engineering, data warehouses, data modeling, and SQL, with a proven track record in defining strategies and roadmaps.
  • The ability to tackle ambiguous problems and solve them in a structured, hypothesis-driven, data-supported manner.
  • Demonstrated strategic and long-term thinking with pragmatic excellence in execution.
