Government Relations Manager

We are seeking a highly skilled Government & Industry Relations Manager to join our Corporate Affairs team at Coles Group. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for developing and implementing strategies to enhance Coles' relationship and reputation with local, state and federal governments and industry stakeholders.
This role involves advocating for Coles' interests, monitoring and shaping policy developments in collaboration with key stakeholders and peak bodies. You will also be responsible for:
- Developing and executing strategies to influence public policy and legislative outcomes in alignment with Coles' goals.
- Representing Coles at Parliamentary hearings and in meetings with Ministers, MPs and their staff, government officials, policymakers, and other stakeholders.
- Building and maintaining relationships with key Ministers, MPs and their staff, government agencies, and industry groups.
- Maintaining awareness and advising on political developments that may impact Coles.
- Preparing briefs, reports, and position papers to inform senior management and guide decision-making.
- Establishing and maintaining effective governance practices across areas of responsibility.
- Leading a strong governance and compliance culture amongst the team.
About You and Your Skills
To be successful in this role, you will need:
- Extensive experience in government, government relations, public affairs, or a related field.
- A strong understanding of Australian government processes and legislative procedures.
- Proven ability to develop and implement successful advocacy strategies in collaboration with stakeholders.
- Experience appearing before Parliamentary Committees.
- Strong stakeholder management skills, with the ability to foster long-lasting relationships.
- Excellent communication, negotiation, and interpersonal skills.
- Strategic thinking and problem-solving abilities.
- A high level of political acumen and understanding of public policy issues.
- A Bachelor's degree in Political Science, Public Policy, Law, Commerce, Economics or a related field.
