On-Call Firefighter Role

Ongoing employment in a dynamic and challenging environment. This role requires availability for on-call hours, including day and night shifts.

The base retainer is $80.63 per fortnight, with an additional payment of $34.14 per hour for incident and drill attendance.

About the Role

As an On-Call Firefighter, you will work from your local Fire and Rescue NSW Fire Station. Your duties will include community fire safety work, attending fires and other emergencies, community education, and collaboration with other emergency services.

You will be paid for attendance at incidents, training sessions, community safety and education activities.

About You

To be successful in this role, you need to be team-oriented, community-focused, adaptable, reliable, and have availability across weekdays and/or weekends, including day and/or night work.

You must live and/or work within a reasonable distance of the FRNSW Fire Station to respond promptly to emergency incidents.

Essential Requirements

- Valid NSW Driver's Licence (minimum P1)
- Australian or New Zealand citizen or permanent resident
- Live within a reasonable distance of the FRNSW Fire Station

Training is provided on an ongoing basis and covers all aspects of firefighting and rescue, including basic life support, rope work, power tool use, and community engagement skills.

Minimum Availability and Attendance Requirements

At least 33% of all calls over a six-month period and a minimum of 80% of all calls received by the brigade during the compulsory availability in any four-week period, together with no less than 75% drill attendance.
