Woodwind Music Educator

The role of a woodwind music educator encompasses teaching groups or individual students, assisting in directing college music ensembles and participating in activities such as staff meetings and concerts.

Main Responsibilities:

  • To provide individual and group tuition to students from beginning to advanced levels including VCE on woodwind instruments like clarinet and saxophone.
  • Manage all administration for lessons and ensemble rehearsals including communication with students and parents.
  • Assist in the direction of woodwind ensemble rehearsals and prepare ensembles for performance.
  • Attend college performances and excursions as required.
  • Contribute to the development of a music culture within the college community.
  • Work with the director of music to coordinate student allocation to instrumental music classes and oversee equipment maintenance, repair, purchase and replacement.

Requirements:

  • Demonstrated experience and skills in coordinating an education support function.
  • Able to supervise the work of other support staff and develop procedures related to the work area.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Technical knowledge and expertise relevant to the position.
  • Able to provide advice and support to management in respect to the work area.
  • Commitment to professional learning and growth for self and others.
