**Job Description**

As a senior analytics leader, you will lead a team responsible for providing technical advice and analysis on components of aged care and hospital costing data sets. You will be working closely with stakeholders to develop and maintain pricing models, including coordinating and providing expert advice on funding models for aged care and hospital services.

**Key Responsibilities:**

  • Lead and manage the Costing Analytics section
  • Manage the annual cycle of work to deliver cost advice for hospital and aged care, including residential and support at home programs
  • Coordinate preparation of position and briefing papers around the calculation and results of costing models, including coordination and provision of expert advice to stakeholders in relation to funding models for aged care and hospital services
  • Represent the agency on national committees, working groups and conferences and liaise with Australian governments and national stakeholders regarding pricing advice; and support the agency in the development, testing, and analysis associated with new or modified pricing approaches in health or aged care

**Required Skills and Qualifications:**

  • Demonstrated understanding of the role of costing within the agency and ABF in general
  • Strategic and program management skills, including development, interpretation and application of government policies and processes in a complex environment
  • Experience in developing clear and efficient code preferably using SAS, SQL or Python to understand and analyse data
  • Understanding of costing models, specifically related to pricing methods in both hospital and aged care
  • People and leadership skills, including the ability to articulate functional objectives and operational priorities, including capacity to build workforce capability to achieve the section's objectives
  • Highly developed strategic thinking, including vision, perception and evaluation skills, and the ability to assess organisational impacts, governance, compliance, risks and benefits
  • Stakeholder management and communication skills, including liaison and negotiation skills, and the ability to communicate complex and sensitive issues successfully to various steering committees, working groups, management and staff
  • Ability to communicate complex technical information that is appropriate for a range of audiences
  • Strong technical and analytical skills, with high attention to detail
  • Experience in mathematical or statistical analysis and model development

**Desirable Qualifications:**

  • Working knowledge of a health-related field, accounting, finance, or project management and experience in data analysis, trend reporting would be highly desirable
  • Knowledge or previous experience working with activity-based costing or hospital costing, and data collection
  • Experience in mathematics, statistics, econometrics, or actuarial sciences, including data analysis and pricing model development is highly desirable. Experience using SAS, SQL, Python, and Microsoft Excel is also desirable
