Climate Action Specialist

This role is focused on driving strategic climate action and decarbonisation efforts within an organisation. The successful candidate will be responsible for developing and implementing a climate transition plan, as well as monitoring progress towards established climate goals.

The ideal candidate will possess a strong understanding of sustainability reporting frameworks and regulatory requirements. They will also have exceptional stakeholder engagement and executive communication skills, with the ability to mentor and inspire others.

The following are the key responsibilities for this role:

  • Mature and implement the organisation's climate action/transition plan and decarbonisation roadmap.
  • Monitor progress toward climate goals and identify opportunities for emissions reduction and operational improvement.
  • Conduct annual carbon footprint assessments, oversee data collection, and ensure solutions are practical, commercial, and aligned with organisational direction.
  • Stay current with evolving climate reporting frameworks and best practices through networks and relevant associations.
  • Drive continuous improvement in climate reporting processes and outcomes, ensuring compliance with all relevant reporting requirements.

The following are the required qualifications and skills for this role:

  • Minimum 5 years' experience in a sustainability or community-related role.
  • Strong knowledge of sustainability reporting frameworks, regulatory requirements, and their connection to material business risks and opportunities.
  • Proven ability to develop and lead communication strategies and projects independently.
  • Exceptional stakeholder engagement and executive communication skills.
  • Strategic thinker with the ability to mentor, inspire, and deliver results.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and confidence operating at senior levels.
  • Tertiary qualification in a relevant discipline such as Environmental Science, Business, or Communications.
  • Leadership experience (highly regarded).
