Job Title: Public Affairs Strategist

The role of a Public Affairs Strategist is to develop and execute a strategic approach to government relations and stakeholder engagement. This involves cultivating relationships with government, industry bodies, and regulatory agencies.

Main Responsibilities:

  1. Strategic Leadership: Develop and execute the public affairs strategy in alignment with organisational goals, provide counsel to senior leaders, and monitor political, regulatory, and public policy trends.
  2. Government Relations & Advocacy: Build and maintain relationships with government stakeholders, advocate in relevant policy and regulatory matters, and monitor trends.
  3. Stakeholder Engagement: Develop and implement stakeholder engagement strategies to build and maintain relationships with external stakeholders.
  4. Issues Management: Contribute to communication plans, respond to reputational or regulatory challenges, and serve as a key advisor to the leadership team during critical moments.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in Communications, Public Relations, Political Science, Business, or a related field (Essential).
  • Minimum 10 years experience in government relations, government operations, politics, industrial relations, or a similar field.
  • Proven experience in public affairs at a senior level, strong understanding of public policy, regulatory environments, and government affairs.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, strategic thinking, leadership potential, ability to navigate and influence across various organisational levels and external stakeholders.
