Volunteer Role

We are seeking dedicated volunteers to support the spiritual and emotional needs of our residents in a residential aged care home.

About the Role

Pastoral care volunteers play a vital role in providing companionship and support to individuals living in an aged care home. They will be part of a team that delivers exceptional care and services to meet the unique needs of our residents.

  • Supporting Spiritual Needs: Volunteers will work closely with residents to understand their spiritual requirements and provide tailored support to enhance their well-being.
  • Engaging with Residents: Pastoral care volunteers will engage with residents who have dementia, using spiritual care techniques to promote comfort and relaxation.
  • Collaboration with Residential Team: Volunteers will complement the work of our Residential Pastoral Care Coordinator, ensuring seamless delivery of pastoral care services.
Requirements and Skills

The ideal candidate will possess strong interpersonal skills, including empathy and listening skills. While pastoral care training is highly desirable, it is not essential. We encourage volunteers to attend our Spiritual Care Series training program to prepare for this rewarding role.

Apart from your excellent communication skills, you should also be comfortable working in a team environment and able to maintain confidentiality when dealing with sensitive information.
