Participation Leader Role

The Participation Leader plays a pivotal role in driving participation growth through the professional delivery of core programs in Cairns, Port Douglas, and Far North Queensland area.

This position involves close collaboration with AFL Cairns Competition Managers and community clubs to drive participation growth across the region.

The successful candidate will have previous leadership experience, proven ability to train and mentor staff, and excellent relationship and stakeholder engagement skills.

They will also be able to identify problems and provide quality solutions, demonstrate knowledge and interest in Australian Football, and adapt to change while remaining effective and calm under pressure.

  • Delivering NAB AFL Auskick and Superkick programs in community football clubs and schools
  • Implementing strategies for growth, transition, and retention from NAB AFL Auskick and Superkick school programs into junior club football
  • Leading quality control measures throughout all participation programs
  • Supporting Regional Lead - North Queensland with the participation strategy
  • Onboarding, training, and supporting casual workforce
  • Mentoring and supporting AFL Cairns Participation Coordinators
  • Working closely with Junior Community Clubs to build inclusive environments and pathways
  • Leading by example with input of data into our CRM

The ideal candidate will have a fun and enthusiastic nature, a passion for working with children, and excellent verbal communication skills.

About the Position:

This is an exciting opportunity to join our team as a Participation Leader. The successful candidate will be responsible for delivering core programs and driving participation growth across the region.

Key Responsibilities:
  1. Deliver NAB AFL Auskick and Superkick programs in community football clubs and schools.
  2. Implement strategies for growth, transition, and retention from NAB AFL Auskick and Superkick school programs into junior club football.
  3. Lead quality control measures throughout all participation programs.
  4. Support Regional Lead - North Queensland with the participation strategy.
  5. Onboard, train, and support casual workforce.
  6. Mentor and support AFL Cairns Participation Coordinators.
  7. Work closely with Junior Community Clubs to build inclusive environments and pathways.
  8. Lead by example with input of data into our CRM.

We are seeking a motivated and experienced individual who is passionate about working with children and has excellent verbal communication skills.
