Job Title: Visiting Medical Officer

We are seeking a qualified specialist to provide comprehensive and professional services at Inverell District Hospital.

About the Role:

The successful applicant will deliver safe, effective, evidence-based and patient-centred specialist care.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Providing clinical services as determined by HNELHD, including admitting, consultative, diagnostic, procedural, outpatient, telehealth and on-call services.
  • Ensuring availability during rostered work hours and whilst on-call, including clinical handover, clinical supervision, teaching and emergency and routine care as required.
  • Supporting education and research initiatives as determined by HNELHD.
Required Skills and Qualifications:
  • A primary medical degree registrable with AHPRA and Fellowship of the Royal Australian College of General Practitioners / Australian College of Rural Remote Medicine, or equivalent overseas trained specialist pathways.
  • Recognised qualification in Advanced Skill in General Practice Anaesthesia (JCCA, DRGA).
  • Recent and comprehensive experience in General Practice, demonstrating expertise and proficiency in relevant skills and knowledge.
  • Ability to maintain medical professional development, assist staff, and trainees in acquiring and developing knowledge.
  • Effective communication skills, both oral and written, for communicating with patients, students, health professionals, and the public.
  • Capacity to network, operate within an interdisciplinary framework, and work with various stakeholders in different settings.
  • Flexibility and ability to adapt to changing healthcare environments, past leadership and management experience, and previous safety and quality improvement activities.
  • Ongoing professional development, peer review, and other forms of clinical governance.
  • Contributions to improving individual and societal health through advocacy and community engagement.
