Job Opportunity: Wellbeing Coordinator

  • The successful candidate will play a pivotal role in supporting the educational and wellbeing needs of students.
  • They will work closely with teachers, staff, and parents to develop and implement effective wellbeing programs.
Key Responsibilities:
  • Oversee referrals to the Student Online Case system (SOCS) and liaise with professionals from Specialist Schools Support Office (SSSO).
  • Provide support for students engaging with wellbeing through the referral process by conducting need assessments and providing suitable responses.
  • Coordinate consultation regarding referrals to external agencies including Headspace, CMYHS, Department of Health and Human Services etc.
  • Refer students displaying serious mental health issues to the Mental Health Practitioner.
  • Organise and participate in school events promoting positive mental health such as RUOK day.
  • Collaborate with school staff to engage parents and carers.
  • Provide information to the school community regarding available programs, services and financial assistance within the community.
Required Skills and Qualifications:
  • A strong understanding of the challenging problems young people face and experience working with students and their families to address mental health issues.
  • Evidence of ability to develop and implement early intervention wellbeing programs.
  • Evidence of ability to help young people increase self-esteem, develop interpersonal skills and healthy coping skills, resolve conflicts and manage behaviour.
  • Highly developed communication, networking, interpersonal and teamwork skills including the ability to liaise effectively with a wide range of people within the school and wider community.
  • Demonstrated experience in assessing, conceptualising and analysing wellbeing issues, and providing evidence-based direct counselling for a range of mental health issues.
  • Excellent organisational and administrative skills; and understanding of school systems and best practices.
  • Understanding of Department of Education policies and procedures regarding mandatory reporting and information sharing.
