Suburban Connect is a leading consortium of global leaders in tunnelling, consisting of CPB Contractors, Ghella, and Acciona Construction. We are proud to be delivering the Tunnels South package on the Suburban Rail Loop (SRL) East project, on behalf of the Suburban Rail Loop Authority (SRLA).

A Landmark Infrastructure Project

The 16kms of tunnels between Cheltenham and Glen Waverley will be constructed using 4 tunnel boring machines and various excavation methods. The project also includes 55 cross passages, 2 tunnel portal structures, 2 station box excavations, and associated supports.

Safety Advisor Role

This key role plays a vital part in achieving safety objectives by ensuring all staff and contractors comply with statutory, contractual, and safety management system obligations.

The Health & Safety Advisor will work closely with cross-functional teams to develop, implement, and maintain robust health and safety systems, focusing on governance and assurance. This role ensures that health and safety processes align with regulatory requirements, organizational policies, and industry best practices.

Key Responsibilities
  • Safety Systems:
  • Monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of health and safety systems through regular audits, reviews, and assessments.
  • Business Performance:
  • Assist in developing and enforcing standards to ensure the project complies with S&H regulatory and governance requirements.
  • Health and Safety Improvement Initiatives:
  • Contribute to developing and delivering project goals and objectives.
  • Stakeholder Engagement and Culture Development:
  • Foster a proactive and positive safety culture by engaging with employees and stakeholders at all levels.
  • Governance and Compliance:
  • Support implementing and maintaining Suburban Connect's Health and Safety Governance framework to ensure regulatory compliance and alignment with internal policies.
  • Assurance and Audit Management:
  • Contribute to internal and external health and safety audits, ensuring thorough preparation, execution, and follow-up on audit findings.
Required Skills and Qualifications
  • A minimum of 3-5 years of experience in a health and safety advisory role, preferably with a focus on system safety, governance, and assurance.
  • Robust understanding of State and Federal Construction Safety legislation.
  • Demonstrable experience of Safety Management System implementation.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage and influence stakeholders at all levels.
  • Proven experience in conducting audits, managing non-conformances, and implementing corrective actions.
  • Bachelor's degree or Post Graduate in Occupational Health and Safety or a related field.
  • ICAM Lead investigator (Desirable) / ICAM Basic Investigator (Desirable)
  • Return to Work Coordinator (Desirable)
  • Lead Auditor Safety (Desirable)
  • Cert IV in Training and Assessment (Desirable)
About the Opportunity
