Job Summary
We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced professional to join our team as a Senior Water Utility Network Manager. As a key member of our leadership team, you will be responsible for leading a team of engineers and tradesmen to ensure that new water supply and sewer assets are designed and constructed in accordance with our standards, ACT regulations, industry codes, and other statutory requirements.
About the Role
The successful candidate will be responsible for:
- Managing and leading the team to deliver a high-quality design and inspection service in an effective and efficient manner.
- Custodian of customer-centric business transformation initiatives, including user pay schemes, certification schemes, business process redesign, customer-centric information and workflow development, and developer education programs.
- Supporting the Manager Urban Development Services as the point of contact for internal and external stakeholders on matters escalated.
- Liaising with developers, consultants, contractors, suppliers, and other government organizations on matters involving acceptance of new hydraulic assets.
- Managing sensitive, complex, or policy matters that may arise in the ACT developer environment, developing and proposing options for resolution.
- Representing Icon Water at outside forums as appropriate regarding developer matters.
- Managing allocation of resources, planning and organizing training, and developing performance plans and development programs for the team and within the branch as required.
- Providing or sourcing technical input to the work of the section, resolving more complex issues arising from external inquiries or work carried out by the section, administering the requirements of the Icon Water Supply and Sewerage Standards, Service and Installation Rules, and other statutory requirements and standards relevant to urban development.
- Assessing costs of gifted assets in consultation with the team manager.
- Providing analysis and management information on developer services issues and assisting in other areas as requested.
Requirements
To be successful in this role, you will need to possess:
- Civil/Mechanical engineering degree or equivalent experience.
- Sound ability to read and understand engineering drawings and an understanding of advanced water and sewer hydraulic design. Working experience in water utility network design or construction is highly regarded.
- Ability to effectively deal with senior internal and external stakeholders in a rational and considered manner, potentially in confrontational situations, and arrive at effective solutions.
- Awareness of political issues that might arise through individual projects and ability to rationally resolve.
- Ability to effectively manage staff and budgets and demonstrate ability to plan, manage, and implement specific tasks and projects.
- Ability to effectively manage the establishment and application of technical standards and legal policy requirements.
- Skills and attributes demonstrating attention to detail, decisiveness, and leadership skills.
- Ensure accuracy, foster teamwork, work proactively, set and achieve long-term goals, and analyze information to make practical decisions.
