Senior Payroll Tax Compliance Specialist

Job Description
  • Key Responsibilities:
    • Review payroll tax setups in Workday for each entity and jurisdiction, identify issues, and collaborate with external services to update and correct.
    • Perform quarterly reviews of tax filing packages to ensure accuracy and timeliness.
    • Work with accounting teams to align and reconcile general ledger accounts.
    • Manage and reconcile payroll taxes at employer and employee levels, ensuring timely remittances to authorities and accurate withholding tax reporting.
    • Reconcile quarterly and annual tax amounts withheld, reported, and deposited for assigned entities.
    • Manage state unemployment insurance rate updates, ensuring they are up-to-date in Workday.
    • Prepare and submit applications for new tax jurisdictions and closing jurisdictions.
    • Research and resolve multi-state tax notices; escalate issues as needed and maintain a strong delivery record.
    • Support internal and external audit data requests; prepare materials for tax provisions at year-end and for tax audits.
    • Partner with accounting teams to research open G/L items, identify risk areas, and ensure full compliance.
Required Skills and Qualifications
  • Education: University degree preferred
  • Experience: 3+ years required; 5+ years preferred
  • Payroll Tax Experience: Must have experience in payroll tax compliance in Workday
  • Technical Skills: Proficiency in Excel
  • Additional Skills: Financial services experience a plus
