Role Description

We are seeking a skilled professional to play a key role in our Developer Relations team.

The ideal candidate will be responsible for collaborating with cross-functional teams to develop and maintain relationships with open-source communities and developer-centric organizations.

This includes engaging directly with developers through various channels, such as IRC, social media, product forums, meet-ups, and more.

The successful candidate will have a strong background in software development and a passion for open-source software.

They will also possess practical hands-on experience of Linux software packaging, including Snaps, debs, charms, rocks, PIP, and containers.

In addition, the candidate will have contributed to open-source communities, software, and documentation, and will have excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Participating in team product meetings to contribute insight and expertise
  • Maintaining conversations with developer community members wherever they may be found
  • Working with colleagues in other teams to establish commonality and consistent approaches
  • Solving specific technical problems that users or colleagues have identified
  • Contributing to technical documentation to ensure developer users' needs are met
  • Developing technical articles, presentations, or workshops
  • Identifying new opportunities and directions for improvement in the developer experience we provide
  • Presenting at conferences, meetups, or technical events

To succeed in this role, you will need:

  • A strong background in software development and a passion for open-source software
  • Experience working with real-world challenges developing and deploying software using Linux
  • Practical hands-on experience of Linux software packaging
  • Understanding of current software packing issues and trends in the Linux ecosystem
  • Contributed to open-source communities, software, and documentation
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
