Job Overview

We are seeking a skilled Technical Writer to join our team. The successful candidate will be responsible for developing a range of technical documentation.

Main Responsibilities:
  • Undertake Technical Writing duties as necessary
  • Be familiar with best practice and trends in Technical Writing, particularly in the defence industry
  • Develop product Operation and Maintenance Manuals as required
  • Review and edit documents from technical writer peers and other team members
  • Work closely with Software and/or Hardware Engineers and Software Developers to develop new and existing documentation
  • Validate documentation against the product
Required Skills and Qualifications:

The ideal candidate will have:

  • Preferred experience in establishing a S1000D capability, associated toolsets, and team training
  • Experience managing and leading a team of Technical Writers in developing operator, maintainer, and equipment manuals to a high standard within budget and on schedule
  • Ability to provide guidance, technical oversight, training, and one-on-one mentoring to team members
  • Liaise with Project Management to determine suitable Technical Writer resources and support project schedules and costs
  • Support development and input to tender responses and estimates for the Technical Writer effort
  • Understanding of software development activities and relationships between software development outputs and technical publication development
  • Knowledge of LSA tasks and their relationship to technical publication development
