Job Title: Underwriting Assistant

AXA XL is seeking a highly skilled Underwriting Assistant to join our team in Sydney, NSW. As an Underwriting Assistant, you will play a critical role in supporting our Underwriters in their line of business, ensuring the efficient service of local produced accounts and overall compliance with AXA XL policies.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Collaborate with the offshore team to ensure timely requests for quotes, name clearance, and accurate binding of quotes are met.
  • Engage proactively with Underwriting to ensure an efficient and smooth account handover for accounts, ensuring information received is understood and complete to process/instruct policies on systems.
  • Implement system procedures and create instruction documents, ensuring related data is complete and accurate to instruct local policy details.
  • Document files handled by the role holder in the UW file (on document management system).
  • Accountable for correct (RI) premium, (RI) commission, and tax bookings in processing systems.
  • Monitor implementation progress and liaise with local staff to resolve queries.
  • Implement mid-term endorsements, issue certificates of insurance, and focus on premium collection monitoring (according to processing rules and guidelines, including system data entries).
  • Address client/broker requests immediately and refer to Underwriters.
  • Develop expert-level knowledge of systems and processes and stay up-to-date with new guidelines published. Act as a reference point for others when questions arise or uncertainties exist.
  • Ensure data quality accuracy ratios at defined levels/metrics.
Requirements:
  • Permanent Australian Working Rights are required for this role.
  • Proven experience in the insurance industry with an operations background in middle office. Previous experience in a corporate organization is ideal.
  • Effective communication skills to interact with internal and external stakeholders at all levels of sophistication.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and efficiently manage multiple concurrent responsibilities.
  • Develop and maintain productive working relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Capability to work collaboratively with a virtual team.
  • Attention to detail: understands the importance of getting the little details right and takes pride in getting it right the first time.
  • Great time management skills are essential.
  • Continuous Improvement Focused: willing to ask questions and explore new ideas.
  • Results Oriented: approach tasks proactively and anticipate needs. Think quickly and prioritize multiple work streams without sacrificing quality. Act with a sense of urgency.
