Job Description

A permanent position is available in a conservation role at Blackdown Tableland National Park. If you enjoy mountain living and have a passion for conservation, consider applying. Accommodation is provided.

You will work alongside indigenous people to manage their ancestral lands and protect natural wonders and cultural treasures. Most work will be field-based, with some administrative tasks.

Duties and Responsibilities
  • Develop and implement operational plans for the park and annual work plans.
  • Maintain equipment; control pest plants and animals; undertake planned burning and wildfire suppression; maintain park infrastructure.
  • Manage projects; conduct compliance checks and perform resource management duties.
  • Provide on-ground supervision and collaborate with others; adapt to changing service requirements.
  • Undertake administrative tasks and assist with emergency response as needed.
  • Monitor workplace health and safety; procure goods and services.
  • Support indigenous interests.
Requirements

No formal qualifications are required but relevant experience in Conservation and Land Management would be advantageous.

Strong communication and interpersonal skills are necessary, as well as ability to work effectively in a team, supervise staff, and independently.

  • Practical skills and experience in equipment maintenance and operation.
  • Ability to enforce laws and regulations as part of park management.
  • Commitment to adapting to changing situations and providing information to stakeholders.
Working Conditions

Most responsibilities involve fieldwork; occasional administrative tasks.
