Opportunity Overview

We are seeking a skilled professional to provide support services for individuals and families impacted by alcohol and other drug use. The role involves conducting assessments, delivering evidence-based counselling and promoting recovery.

This position requires a strong understanding of systemic issues, including racism and colonialism, and the ability to work collaboratively with diverse communities.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Conduct comprehensive assessments to identify individual needs and develop effective treatment plans.
  • Deliver high-quality, evidence-based counselling services to reduce AOD-related harm and promote behaviour change.
  • Provide supervision and guidance to colleagues as needed.
Required Skills and Qualifications:
  • Tertiary qualification in health or welfare related discipline.
  • Relevant tertiary qualification in health or welfare, such as Social Work, Psychology, Nursing, Allied Health Sciences, Certificate IV in Alcohol and Other Drugs (AOD), or completion of core AOD competencies.
  • Experience working with Aboriginal communities and an understanding of systemic issues.
  • AOD or dual diagnosis counselling experience.
  • Strong collaboration and communication skills.
  • Familiarity with various therapies, including CBT, MET, Harm Reduction, Trauma-Informed Practice, Narrative Therapy, Family Inclusive Practice, Community Reinforcement.
