Biomedical Engineer Job

Job Summary:

As a biomedical engineer, you will be responsible for providing maintenance and repair services to advanced radiation therapy apparatus used in the treatment of cancer.

This role is part of a small, dedicated team that works under the direction of a senior biomedical technician.

The successful candidate will have excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to clearly speak technical advice and guidance to all equipment stakeholders.

  • Service, repair, and maintenance of radiation therapy equipment are essential responsibilities of this position.
  • You will work flexibly and efficiently to maintain clinical services, communicating openly and effectively with the medical physics and broader clinical team, as well as equipment suppliers and service agents.
  • Maintaining accurate records in accordance with requirements is crucial.

What We Look For In A Candidate:

  • A diploma in electronics and communications engineering or an equivalent qualification, along with extensive practical experience, or five years' experience in the maintenance, repair, and troubleshooting of complex electro-mechanical systems.
  • Excellent developed interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to clearly speak technical advice and guidance to all equipment stakeholders.
  • Ability and willingness to perform repairs and maintenance on radiation oncology equipment, including high-energy x-ray medical linear accelerators and equipment containing radioactive substances.
  • Willingness to undertake necessary training, including overseas training as required.
  • Team player with demonstrated organisational skills, including the ability to multitask, prioritise, and respond well to rapid change.
