Job Overview:

We are seeking highly skilled surfacing artists to join our team in creating visually stunning content for an upcoming feature film project.

The ideal candidate will possess a strong passion for surfacing, look development, and shading, with a deep understanding of art and design principles within an animation environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Work on all areas of surfacing, including texture painting, procedural texturing, shading, and lookdev, grooming, instancing, UV layout, and sculpting.
  • Develop high-quality stylized textures and physically plausible shading, adhering to industry standards and conventions.
  • Interpret 2D designs, reference material, and artistic direction to translate into 3D textures and surfacing while maintaining the original artistic intent.
  • Maintain effective communication with the Surfacing Lead, production, and team members.
  • Assume responsibility for ensuring assigned work meets expected quality standards within scheduled timeframes.

Requirements:

  • A minimum of 3+ years' experience working on high-quality shading, surfacing, and texturing projects.
  • 3+ years' experience in animated features, feature films (VFX), or high-end episodics.
  • Proficiency in Mari and Maya software.
  • Excellent attention to detail, problem-solving skills, and ability to interpret design down to its fundamentals.
  • Strong communication, organizational, and time management skills.
