Job Title: Operational Coordination Officer

About the role

This is a highly rewarding opportunity to be part of a dedicated team that supports frontline services in emergency management. As an Operational Coordination Officer, you will play a key role in developing and implementing strategies to enhance service delivery and operational capability.


Key responsibilities include:

  • Providing high-level administrative and project support to ensure business objectives are achieved
  • Contribute to the design, development, evaluation and review of training curriculum, content and materials to ensure currency and alignment with IM training and national competency frameworks
  • Assist in the research and evaluation of operational activities, including post-incident analysis relating to the provision of disaster and IM systems, processes and products
  • Develop and implement best practice strategies, directions and objectives to enhance service delivery and operational capability, and monitor outcomes against performance during activation
  • Develop and maintain strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders and ensure IM capability development information is shared between regions, other emergency services and agencies

Requirements and qualifications:

  • Highly desirable requirements:
    • Have a current Certificate IV in Training and Assessment qualification or the ability to obtain the qualification within a mutually agreed timeframe
    • High level understanding of AIIMS and QFES operational concepts
    • High level knowledge and/or experience working in Operational Coordination Centre's, along with knowledge and understanding of Disaster Management arrangements
    • Hold or the ability to obtain Level 1 Procurement Queensland Government purchasing qualification
  • Special requirements
    • It is expected that the incumbent will participate in an out-of-hours roster during emergency event operations
