Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Registered Nurse Supervisor 1 Psychiatric to join our team at the New York State Greater Binghamton Health Center. As a key member of our nursing staff, you will be responsible for the direction and coordination of nursing services for a large number of individuals.

Key Responsibilities
  • Direct and indirect supervision of professional and clinical staff
  • Ensuring implementation of facility policies and procedures related to nursing
  • Initiating special investigations and scheduling staff
  • Teaching appropriate nursing techniques and reviewing individuals' records for compliance
  • Developing plans for correcting deficiencies found
Requirements

To be eligible for this position, you must have a Registered Nurse license and current registration to practice nursing in New York State. You must also have two years of service in any Grade 18 or higher position that requires a license to practice nursing, or one year of service in any Grade 20 or higher position that requires a license to practice nursing.

Alternatively, you may be eligible for a provisional appointment if you have a Registered Nurse license and current registration to practice nursing in New York State, and three years of post-licensure clinical nursing experience working with individuals diagnosed with mental illness, addiction, or substance use disorders.

A bachelor's degree in nursing can be substituted for one year of post-licensure clinical nursing experience, and a master's degree in nursing can substitute for two years of post-licensure clinical nursing experience.
