This role is a critical component of our efforts to support Aboriginal families and children. As an Aboriginal Community Engagement Officer, you will play a key part in fostering strong relationships with community members, elders, and families.

">The Job

We are seeking a highly motivated and culturally aware individual to join our team as an Aboriginal Community Engagement Officer. This role involves working closely with community stakeholders, practitioners, and internal teams to promote cultural awareness and provide culturally safe services.

  • BUILDING RESPECTFUL RELATIONSHIPS WITH ABORIGINAL COMMUNITIES, ELDERS AND FAMILIES.
  • SUPPORTING ABORIGINAL FAMILIES DURING INTAKE AND EXIT FROM OUR PROGRAM.
  • ADVOCATING FOR FAMILIES AND ASSISTING PRACTITIONERS IN DELIVERING CULTURALLY SAFE SERVICES.
  • REPRESENTING THE PROGRAM AT FORUMS, EVENTS, AND COMMUNITY MEETINGS.
  • WORKING CLOSELY WITH INTERNAL STAKEHOLDERS TO RAISE AWARENESS OF THE PROGRAM.

This position works across Perth Children's Hospital and CliniKids Subiaco site. It is a part-time role (0.2-0.4 FTE).

About the Role

To be successful in this role, you will have a strong connection to community, a passion for supporting Aboriginal families and children, and excellent communication skills.

  • UNDERSTANDING OF ABORIGINAL CULTURAL, SOCIAL, AND EMOTIONAL WELLBEING.
  • EXPERIENCE IN COMMUNITY ENGAGEMENT, HEALTH PROMOTION, OR STAKEHOLDER LIAISON.
  • CONFIDENCE IN PROVIDING CULTURALLY APPROPRIATE INFORMATION.
  • EXCELLENT COMMUNICATION SKILLS.
  • SELF-MOTIVATION AND FLEXIBILITY.
  • GENUINE INTEREST IN CHILD DEVELOPMENT AND EARLY INTERVENTION.

About You

You will have a genuine interest in child development and early intervention, and be able to communicate complex information in a clear and concise manner.
